ALBANY, NY, April, 2017  - Stress relief isn't just about feeling better though, it's also about doing better. Some of the world's most successful business executives say they owe much of their success to stress relief through mindfulness and meditation.

Oprah Winfrey, Russell Simmons, Arianna Huffington, Ford Motor Company executive Bill Ford and countless others have found that meditation in their daily lives has led to a clarity of thought, and a level of creativity and energy that has helped to create their success.

The Energy Project CEO, Tony Schwartz has been meditating for over 20 years. Schwartz says that meditating has freed him from migraines and helped him develop patience. He advocates mindfulness as a way to improve work performance. "Maintaining a steady reservoir of energy -- physically, mentally, emotionally and even spiritually -- requires refueling it intermittently," Schwartz observes.

The biggest problem for today's busy workforce is where to find the time. There is an old Zen saying: You should sit in meditation for 20 minutes a day, unless you're too busy. Then you should sit for an hour.

According to Leonard Perlmutter, founder and director of The American Meditation Institute (AMI) in Averill Park, New York, "With just a little practice, one minute of meditation is all it takes to restore a level of clarity and energy."

Perlmutter is considered one of the Western world's leading instructors in the art of yogic meditation. His courses are approved and accredited by the American Medical Association and the American Nurses Association.

Perlmutter's book The Heart and Science of Yoga: The American Meditation Institute's Empowering Self-Care Program for a Happy, Healthy, Joyful Life has been praised by Dr. Dean Ornish, and Dr. Mehmet Oz who says. "This book comprehensively outlines the holistic benefits of Yoga and brought joy to this heart surgeon's heart."

Perlmutter offers this simple one-minute guide to meditation for the busy executive.

1. Sit quietly in a chair, with head, neck and trunk straight, and feet parallel on the floor.
2. Close your eyes and concentrate on the sound of your breathing
3. When you are distracted (and you will be) simply go back to the sound of your own breathing.
4. After one minute, open your eyes slowly and take notice of the world around you.
5. Now you can bring your full, renewed attention to whatever you wish to achieve next.

We live in a world of stress, fear, and never-ending to-do lists that can sap our energy, stifle our creativity and stress our physical immune systems. For thousands of years yoga and its meditative principles have been used to enlighten, and to empower the human body and human spirit. Why not yours?
